US live TV: local stations and public affairs

Start with the United States channel catalog, then identify the station, feed and place you actually want to watch. The guide below separates current catalog coverage from a broadcaster's schedule and links to original public-affairs sources.

What is available in the US catalog?

761 retained playback entries in this country collection, after public playback eligibility checks.

Catalog loaded . Loading this page is not a new playback check of every entry. The player can report a newer availability result.

Sample entries from the retained collection, ordered by name. Feed locations below are source metadata, not a guarantee of reception or local coverage.

  • 24 Hour Free Movies — feed: SD; feed region: not specified; city: not specified.
  • 30A Georgia Hollywood Review — feed: SD; feed region: not specified; city: not specified.
  • 30A Golf Kingdom — feed: SD; feed region: not specified; city: not specified.

The country selection describes channel origin, not a promise that every feed covers the entire United States. A national service, a local station and a special-purpose event feed can appear in the same country collection. A feed's city or region describes a different part of the record; it should not be treated as the viewer's location or as an independently verified reception area.

Find a local station rather than the wrong network feed

  1. Open the United States catalog and search for a displayed station name or alternate name. A call sign helps only if it is included in those name fields. For similar results, compare the region, source and status shown by the player before pressing play.
  2. Check any city and region information against the station's own website. Missing geographic metadata does not establish national coverage. A network name alone does not identify the local affiliate or its local news schedule.
  3. Read the player status after selection. A retained successful playback check is evidence of a past check, not a guarantee that the provider will accept a new connection from your browser.
  4. For a programme time, use the broadcaster's published schedule and its stated time zone. Do not infer the airing time in another US market from a feed name or from your own device clock.

For public television, continue with the US PBS viewing guide. It addresses station selection and the original viewing services, while this page explains the wider country catalog. Neither page promises that a particular affiliate, programme or rights-restricted stream is included.

National coverage is not local reporting

For a city-specific story, identify the station and editorial source before assuming a national news channel supplies local coverage. A similarly branded feed may use a different schedule or cover another area. Comparing the station's own page with the player label is more useful than choosing solely by logo. The US local news viewing guide explains how to distinguish a local bulletin, replay and national feed.

For congressional proceedings, use the official House and Senate sources linked alongside this guide. A chamber webcast and a rolling news channel answer different questions: one records proceedings, while the other may include commentary or only selected excerpts. PocketWorld does not turn those external links into embedded channels or certify that a listed feed carries a particular hearing.

Original US sources to check

The US House FloorCast is the original House floor viewing service. The Senate floor proceedings page provides its floor webcast and related proceedings information. Open these services for their own schedules and playback options; a recess or archived segment is not evidence of a PocketWorld player fault.

Where catalog metadata comes from

The IPTV-org API documentation distinguishes channel records from feeds and their broadcast areas. It documents one directory schema used here; PocketWorld also retains records from other approved source integrations. Use the player's source label and the original broadcaster to trace a particular entry. Public playback eligibility checks apply before records are presented. This is not a census of licensed US broadcasters, a cable package, or a comprehensive programme guide. Several regional feeds may share a channel identity, so the displayed entry count is not a count of distinct broadcasting companies.

If playback is unavailable

Keep provider restrictions separate from an application failure. A source may change its address, reject cross-site playback, limit access by location, require an account, or stop transmitting between scheduled events. A fresh catalog or browser refresh cannot remove those conditions. Use the broadcaster's original service and published access terms; this guide does not suggest bypassing them.

Return to the world TV directory to compare country collections, or read the PocketWorld methodology for freshness and source limitations. If a player reports an error, retain the visible station and feed names when reporting it rather than interpreting an old catalog count as proof that the stream must work now.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the US catalog show every local affiliate?

No. It is a retained collection of eligible public playback records, not a complete station directory or cable subscription. Check the station's own site for its services, market and schedule.

Is the country filter a geographic access guarantee?

No. It groups channel-origin records. The selected feed's coverage and the provider's access restrictions are separate, and a listed record does not guarantee playback from every location.

Are the House and Senate links channels hosted here?

No. They open the original official services. Their proceedings, schedules and playback options remain separate from the PocketWorld catalog.
