Country and language filters
Start with geography or language, then narrow the directory without paging through unrelated stations.
Availability context
Working status reflects a recent check and remains separate from permanent editorial or licensing claims.
Browser favorites
Keep useful stations on the current device without registration or a server-side listener profile.
Original endpoints
Audio is fetched on demand from the listed broadcaster or directory endpoint through PocketWorld's bounded playback proxy; PocketWorld does not originate or archive the program.
How the directory works
PocketWorld imports public station metadata, normalizes country and language labels, and groups endpoints into a map and searchable catalog. Station names, descriptions and logos remain associated with their original owners. The displayed catalog count reflects the current loaded directory, not a promise that every endpoint will play from every country.
When a listener selects a station, PocketWorld retrieves the listed stream on demand through a bounded same-origin security proxy. PocketWorld does not originate or archive the program. A stream can fail because of broadcaster maintenance, geographic restrictions, an expired endpoint, transport policy or codec support.
Understanding working status
A recent health check is useful evidence, but live streams can change between checks. The interface separates working, favorite and recent filters and keeps a report path for records that are permanently broken or mislabeled. Temporary downtime is not silently converted into another station.
Rights and availability
Broadcasters control their programming and distribution rights. Use the station's official page for schedules, jurisdiction-specific access and rights information. PocketWorld provides discovery and metadata organization rather than ownership of the underlying audio.
TV and radio listening guides
Find the right station, understand access conditions and compare playback options. These source-linked articles do not promise that every named broadcaster is in the current catalog.
- Matching a US radio station to the right online stream
A familiar brand or frequency alone may not identify the station you remember.
- Finding French-language radio for the Canadian region you want
Language, region and listening format are three separate choices.
- Finding campus and community radio beyond a genre label
A station's community and schedule can tell you more than a single music tag.
- Checking which Canadian station a directory record describes
Resolve identity before treating similar records as different stations.
- Live does not mean every listener hears the same second
Check playback position and program identity before blaming the stream.
- Separate a silent player from an unavailable live stream
Keep the exact symptom instead of calling every failure a broken channel.
- Estimate internet-radio data use before a long listening session
Use a transparent calculation, then compare it with your device's measured usage.
- Region restriction or technical error: read the message first
A public listing is not a promise of worldwide playback.
What is in the radio directory
PocketWorld organizes public station metadata and stream URLs by country, language, genre and location. Playback is fetched on demand from the broadcaster or directory-listed endpoint through a bounded same-origin proxy; PocketWorld does not originate or archive the audio. A station can be listed while temporarily offline, geo-restricted, incompatible with a browser codec or available only over an insecure legacy connection. Health checks and user reports help separate those cases from permanently dead links.
How to find a useful station
Start with a country or language, then narrow by genre or working status. The map is a discovery surface rather than a ranking of editorial quality. Names, logos and program descriptions belong to their respective stations, and availability can change without notice. Favorites remain in the browser so listeners can return without creating an account.
Radio directory sources
Station metadata and public stream URLs come from community radio directories including Radio Browser.
Frequently asked questions
Does PocketWorld host radio programs?
No. PocketWorld fetches the listed public endpoint on demand through a bounded playback proxy, and does not originate or archive station programs.
Why does a working station sometimes fail?
The endpoint can change after its last check or be limited by location, browser security, maintenance or codec support.
Do favorites require an account?
No. Favorites are stored on the current device, so they do not follow you to another browser automatically.
