Finding French-language radio for the Canadian region you want

Language, region and listening format are three separate choices.

Open radio directory

Start with the kind of listening

Do you want conversation happening on a station now, a particular interview, or music without searching for a show? Those requests need different entry points. Radio-Canada describes OHdio as its home for live and catch-up audio, podcasts, audiobooks and music. A search for the platform name alone does not select a regional live program. Name the format before comparing results.

Match the region before the hour

The official ICI Première schedule instructions let readers choose a region and day. Use those two choices when looking for a local edition. A show title remembered from another province may not identify the edition you want. Keep the schedule's own time reference visible rather than converting a remembered hour without checking its location.

Build a small listening shortlist

  • For local discussion: record the region, service and intended day.
  • For an interview: record the program title and episode date.
  • For music discovery: record the service or playlist rather than an FM frequency alone.
  • For language practice: choose a repeatable segment and look for accompanying text on the publisher's page.

These notes help distinguish a missed broadcast from the wrong feed. They also avoid a misleading comparison between two live services that happen to be playing different material. French-language programming is not confined to one city, and a country label by itself does not describe a station's audience or schedule.

Use the catalog without assuming completeness

Explore PocketWorld's Canadian radio records and compare their available language and station metadata. The directory is not the OHdio archive, and this guide does not claim every Radio-Canada service is listed or playable here. Use the broadcaster for program archives, regional schedules and current access conditions. When a record is missing, keep the official link in your shortlist rather than substituting a station solely because it speaks the same language. For a show you want to revisit, the episode page is more useful than a live-stream link that will carry something else tomorrow.

Data sources

Publisher and technical references are linked beside the explanations. PocketWorld is an independent directory; these guides do not imply broadcaster affiliation or guarantee playback availability.
