Current conditions

Inspect the newest available temperature, wind, pressure and condition fields for supported places.

Forecast context

Compare forecast periods while keeping model run time and increasing uncertainty in view.

Air quality

Review available particulate and air-quality fields without treating sparse global coverage as a local sensor reading.

Source fallbacks

PocketWorld keeps provider timestamps and uses bounded fallbacks rather than relabeling old data as new.

What a global weather view is good for

The globe helps compare broad regional conditions and move quickly between weather, air quality and other live layers. It can show the latest fields available to PocketWorld, but it cannot reproduce every national radar, local station or warning product.

Forecast providers publish model runs on their own schedules. Temperature, precipitation, wind and air quality may therefore have different issue times. The detail view retains source and freshness information so a complete-looking panel is not confused with a single synchronized observation.

Why local values can differ

Mountains, coastlines, urban heat, sensor placement and model resolution can create sharp local differences. Air-quality monitoring is especially uneven. An empty field means that PocketWorld has no suitable value for that location and time; it is not evidence of clean air or calm weather.

Warnings and safety

Use the map for exploration and comparison. National meteorological services, local emergency agencies and official warning channels remain the source for travel, marine, aviation and public-safety decisions.

How the weather layer is assembled

The weather view combines forecast and observation fields exposed by public providers, then anchors them to a place on the globe. Temperature, wind, precipitation and air-quality values may use different model runs and update schedules. PocketWorld preserves the provider timestamp and presents unavailable fields as unavailable, because a visually complete panel should never be mistaken for a complete measurement.

Use official warnings for decisions

A global map is good for comparing regions and spotting broad patterns. It cannot replace a national meteorological service, local radar or an emergency alert. Forecast uncertainty grows with time, mountain and coastal terrain can create sharp local differences, and air-quality sensors are unevenly distributed. Follow the linked source and responsible local authority before travel, marine, aviation or safety decisions.

Weather data sources

Current conditions and forecasts use Open-Meteo and configured weather providers. Source health is monitored continuously.

Frequently asked questions

How often does the weather update?

Each provider follows its own observation or model schedule. PocketWorld exposes the newest available timestamp rather than claiming one universal cadence.

Why is a city value different from a local app?

Products may use different models, stations, grid cells and issue times. Terrain and coastal effects can also produce local variation.

Does PocketWorld issue weather warnings?

No. Follow the responsible national or local authority for official warnings and emergency instructions.
