Global Coverage

Wildfires tracked worldwide: USA, Australia, Canada, Europe, Amazon.

Current Wildfire Season

Our wildfire map tracks active fires across the globe using NASA satellite data. Key monitoring regions include:

  • California - Year-round fire risk, major incidents in summer/fall
  • Pacific Northwest - Oregon, Washington peak fire season July-September
  • Australia - Bushfire season October-March
  • Canada - Forest fires peak May-September
  • Amazon Rainforest - Deforestation fires year-round
  • Mediterranean - Greece, Italy, Spain, Portugal summer fires

Fire Detection Technology

We use NASA MODIS and VIIRS satellite instruments that detect thermal anomalies, identifying fires as small as 1000 square meters.

Hazard data sources

Events are aggregated from USGS, EMSC, NOAA, NASA EONET, NASA FIRMS and GDACS, then normalized and deduplicated.

Frequently asked questions

How often is wildfire data updated?

NASA satellite data is updated multiple times daily as satellites pass over fire-prone regions.

Can I see fires near my location?

Yes, zoom into your area on the 3D map to see any active fires nearby.

What does fire containment mean?

Containment percentage indicates how much of the fire perimeter is controlled by firefighters, preventing further spread.
